In the past few months, there has been repeated talk of AC Milan and Theo Hernandez’s preferences to talk about a new contract. However, there is a difference between talking and action, and it is getting painful.

Theo has certainly been a controversial figure in recent months. Starting in the summer, his contradiction of Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s words sent things spiralling, and questions were asked about his intentions.

Since then, things have calmed, especially when it was reported that new talks would begin after the closing of the mercato. However, there has been no progress made since the mercato’s ending. Instead, there have been repeated messages of intention, but no actual movement towards fulfilling those intentions.

As Antonio Vitiello writes, the Frenchman would like to stay, and consistent talks between the management and the player at Milanello suggest they feel the same way – Ibrahimovic and Geoffrey Moncada have had lengthy discussions ‘reiterating their willingness’ to extend his contract.

However, there is no movement between the club and the agents. The journalist writes that the contractual aspect has yet to begin, and there at least needs to be an offer made, from there figures, clauses, length and bonuses can be discussed. However, it is missing currently.

So Theo is stuck between words of confidence and no actions of confidence.
