The Ligue 1 side have struggled to score goals, especially in the UEFA Champions League this season. Moreover, with the departure of Randal Kolo Muani, Gonçalo Ramos is the squad’s lone No. 9, but even then Vitinha believes that this team is better than last year’s.

Ahead of the clash against Manchester City this Wednesday, Vitinha gave an extensive interview to The Times. The Parisian midfielder discussed in detail his adaptation, Luis Enrique, and Kylian Mbappé’s departure to Real Madrid last summer.

While he acknowledges that Mbappé’s departure had a statistical impact, the Portuguese player appreciates the new possibilities within the Parisian team.

“Kylian is one of the best, if not the best,” Vitinha said (h/t L’Equipe). “We knew it would be difficult, that we couldn’t replace him directly. But you can replace him with the team. That’s what we did. I think we’re collectively better, and we’ve already shown it. Sometimes the goals don’t come, but we have a lot of excellent attackers.”
