Football League World's West Brom fan pundit reacts as Albion are linked with a move for Liverpool starlet Lewis Koumas

West Bromwich Albion, Sheffield United and Watford are all keen on acquiring Liverpool starlet Lewis Koumas for the second half of the Championship campaign, should the Premier League leaders choose to recall him from his current season-long loan spell at Stoke City.

That's according to the Daily Mail, who report that the Baggies - who Lewis' father Jason made over 100 appearances for - are among those looking to bolster their frontline during the January transfer window amid the battle for promotion.

During his current stint with the Potters, the teenage winger has scored three goals and created one assist in 25 league appearances, with the Mail adding that the Reds are happy with the progress he is making with the Staffordshire outfit.

However, the likes of the Baggies are keen to see whether Arne Slot and co would allow their youngster the opportunity to ply his trade in the upper echelons of the Championship, in a move away from the struggling Potters.

Football League World asked our Baggies fan pundit, Callum Burgess, if Koumas would be a good addition to The Hawthorns side, or if other targets should be pursued.

And unsurprisingly, teenage Wales international Koumas would be welcomed to the club with open arms, citing that he would be an improvement on the recently departed Lewis Dobbin, whose loan from Aston Villa was terminated and was subsequently sent to Norwich City.

Callum said: "I think Lewis Koumas would fit the mold of a player who would make a good addition for the second half of the season, where you're looking for players who can make an impact when they can.

"Now we've lost Lewis Dobbin, there's also players who aren't carrying their weight as much as they should have done this season, when you look at the likes of John Swift and Jed Wallace.

"Koumas, who's already got three goals and one assist so far this season in a poor Stoke team.

"If he does end up playing at the Albion for the second half of the season, I reckon he'd probably be sharing minutes in the role that Karlan Grant's been playing recently, alongside Josh Maja.

"And, I think that playing with Maja (is something) Koumas would benefit from.

"We saw when we played against Stoke at the Bet365 in August some of the talent that he's got.

"He could have easily had a hat-trick that day, after he scored one goal from running in behind, and had two other very good chances to score afterwards.

"There's also the history that his dad's got at Albion, being Jason Koumas' son, who's a player fondly remembered by many Albion fans.

"That would be another nice factor of bringing Lewis Koumas to the Hawthorns, where you've got that sentimental value as well.

"So, if Liverpool did decide to recall Koumas and send him our way, then I think many Albion fans would be happy to have him coming off the bench, and I think that, with Dobbin gone, he'd probably be an improvement on him as well."

Lewis Koumas could add a much-needed extra attacking threat for West Brom

Currently, the Baggies sit sixth in the Championship table following Saturday afternoon's draw with Swansea City, and are vying to land a play-off spot for the second consecutive season.

In order to do so, the West Midlands outfit will need to bring in strong signings during the transfer window, in order to get the better of fellow top-six chasers such as Blackburn Rovers.

As alluded to by Callum, Koumas has managed to score three goals for a struggling Stoke side, which suggests he could perform even better for the Baggies.

If Liverpool are willing to allow Koumas to depart the Potters in favour of making a move to the Hawthorns, Albion could be gaining a key asset amid the battle for a play-off place.
