Despite crashing out of the FA Cup after losing 1-0 to struggling Championship side Plymouth Argyle, Liverpool are doing well in the league, and are currently the favourites to be crowned champions.
However, Arsenal, who are currently in second place in the league, are hot on their heels and will do everything they to avoid a third consecutive runners-up finish, but there are less than 15 games to go before the end of the season.
Let’s take a closer look at what today’s most trusted online bookmakers are saying about which team will most likely come out on top.
Liverpool are currently at the top of the Premier League table with 56 points after 23 games played. The Reds boast a six-point advantage over Arsenal, with a game in hand on the Gunners.
Liverpool have won 17 game, drawn five, lost only once. Their 56 goals scored and 21 conceded are league-best totals and gives them a +35 goal difference (GD). In comparison, Arsenal have won 14, drawn eight, and lost twice. With 49 goals scored and 22 conceded, their +27 goal difference is significantly inferior.
A safe indication of which team is most likely to win the Premier League title is a look at how the online bookmakers are pricing the odds. For example, the overwhelming majority of the top-rated sports betting brands currently featured on the AskGamblers UK review site have Liverpool as the clear odds-on favourites to win the league, and, if you hadn’t already guessed, they have Arsenal as the second odds-on favourites to win. Chelsea, Manchester City, and Nottingham Forest come next in the market.
Over the next three weeks, Liverpool have a modest schedule in terms of the league position of their opponents. However, a trip to Everton on February 12th represents a tougher test than the Toffees’ 16th-place suggests. It’s the final Merseyside Derby ever at Goodison Park and is sure to be a white-hot atmosphere, while Everton have won three consecutive league games under returning manager David Moyes.
Following that clash, Liverpool host Wolves (17th in league) on February 16th, and then travel to play Aston Villa (currently 8th in the league) on the 19th.
Arsenal have a similar schedule. On Saturday, February 15th, they travel away to play Leicester City (18th). The Gunners are then are at home to West Ham (15th) on February 22nd, and on February 26th travel to top-four chasing Nottingham Forest (3rd).
If Liverpool can win the league, they will equal Manchester United’s record of 20 top-flight titles. However, since the Premier League was formed in 1992, Liverpool have won the league title once (in the 2019/20 season).
To sum up, even the most optimistic Arsenal fan will admit it’s Liverpool’s lead to lose. However, things can change quickly in football and the run-in promises to be a fascinating watch.
Arsenal aren’t out of the running just yet as the North Londoners look to win the Premier League for the first time since 2003/04. After agonising near misses to Manchester City in each of the last two seasons, Mikel Arteta’s men will be determined to avoid another.
On a final note, if you decide to place a wager on any upcoming Premier League matches or outright winner markets, remember to stick to betting on fully licensed and regulated sportsbooks that are controlled by reputable operators.
Don’t forget that you are subject to losses. The odds can change at any time, and betting on the odds-on favourites still doesn’t always mean you are guaranteed a return on your initial stake.
Where possible, gamble responsibly by setting deposit limits, session time reminders, and any other safer gambling tools that you think will help you remain within your spending budget, and before betting, conduct plenty of research to give your bets the best chance of winning.
