Those in a position of power at La Liga outfit Sevilla will not be in attendance at the club’s meeting with Barcelona this weekend.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards the ongoing ‘Negreira case’ as reason why.

As many will no doubt recall, last September, Sevilla’s board made public their decision not to attend any of the events involving the club’s away trip to Barcelona in La Liga.

Rejecting both the traditional pre-match boardroom lunch, and the invite to make use of an executive box at Montjuïc, the Nervionenses released a statement, detailing their:

‘total indignation and rejection of the practices carried out by the former FC Barcelona leaders accused in the Negreira case, practices that supposedly constitute a crime for the Investigating Court number 1 of Barcelona, as stated in the order disseminated in the media.’

And, as alluded to above, over the 12 months since, the brass at The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán have not at all softened their stance.

As per a report from MD, Sevilla have already informed Barcelona ‘that its top institutional representatives, with president Del Nido Carrasco at the helm, will not be in the box at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys next Sunday’.
