A surprising and potentially damaging Leicester City rumour has hit the headlines on Wednesday morning. It appears Foxes head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy is upset with one of his star LCFC players. It is fair to say that the Dutchman's tenure on Filbert Way hasn't gone well. In fact, it's unravelled as more of a disaster from where I'm sitting at least. And van Nistelrooy is, almost unbelievably, now supposedly picking a fight with the most influential Fox of all time.

So, why would the former Manchester United man possibly be at odds with City icon Jamie Vardy? Has the Leicester legend done something to anger his manager on or off the pitch? Do we believe that what is said to be the issue is true? And will this run-in or ostensible breakdown in striker and gaffer relationship affect the east Midlands team's desperate Premier League run-in? Let's see what's being said right now from the reported sources.

Is Leicester City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy really unhappy with dominant Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy?

It has been alleged that van Nistelrooy is dissatisfied with the apparently 'huge Leicester influence' enjoyed by the similarly celebrated attacker. RvN was too one of the greatest top flight centre forwards of his era. So you'd think they would have a rather simpatico outlook together.

But I'm not sure the 48-year-old ever had the ear of the then Man United chairman. Nor did Alex Ferguson likely defer to van Nistelrooy.

Yet Vardy wields the kind of power at King Power Stadium that sportspeople dream of. And, to be fair to the former England international - he's paid the cost to be the boss!

So how do Vardy and van Nistelrooy get on? Well their connection is said to be strained. Or straining. It is said that Vardy even sways the mind of Foxes owner Aiyawatt 'Top' Srivaddhanaprabha. Irrespective, I can't see any of this affecting the club's already perilous position this season.

"Leicester City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy is unhappy with the “huge” influence of captain Jamie Vardy, sources have told Football Insider. The Foxes legend, 38, has the ear of Leicester owner Aiyawatt “Top” Srivaddhanaprabha and sources say he “listens to Vardy more than Van Nistelrooy”. "
