Former midfielder Evaristo Beccalossi is one of the greats from Inter Milan’s history.
The 68-year-old spent six years with the Nerazzurri. He was at the club between 1978 and 1984.
During his time with Inter, Beccalossi made over 200 appearances for the club.
And Beccalossi was a key player for the Nerazzurri as they won the Serie A title during the 1979-80 season.
The former midfielder continues to retain a strong connection with his former club.
Beccalossi’s wife explained the background of Beccalossi’s health scare iun January.
“A friend who was supposed to go with him to Pavia arrived at his house,” she said. “And found him in a confused state.”
“He immediately informed our daughter Nagaja. She left dinner with her friends, and rushed to her father’s house.”
Danila explained that “Evaristo was conscious.”
“He was talking. But not everything he said made sense.”
“We decided to immediately take him to the hospital in Brescia. Then in the ER they immediately performed a CT scan, which showed a cerebral hemorrhage.”
“Then his condition got worse,” Danila explained. “He went into a coma.”
“He was intubated, and then admitted into intensive care.”
“It was the hardest moment,” the former midfielder’s wife said. “Because the doctors, who were totally honest, warned us – ‘We don’t know if he’ll make it to tomorrow.'”
“Now he has the rehabilitation process ahead of him,” Danila said of Evaristo Beccalossi.
“It’s still a long way to go. But, like a player, he doesn’t feel like training. He huffs and buffs when he goes to the gym.”
As far as whether Beccalossi still watches Inter’s matches, the former player’s wife said “on his phone.”
“When Nagaja asked him before the semifinal against Barcelona who he thought would go through, he replied: ‘Inter, obviously.'”
