Wrexham are eyeing improvements to their first team squad ahead of their Championship campaign
Wrexham are eyeing a move for ex-Swansea City loanee Myles Peart-Harris following his return to Brentford.
According to Wales Online, the Red Dragons are keen on adding the 22-year-old to their ranks ahead of their return to the second tier of English football.
Phil Parkinson is looking to strengthen his squad after guiding them to promotion to the Championship at the first time of asking last season.
Peart-Harris spent last year on loan with the Swans, making 29 appearances in the league before an injury in March cut his campaign short.
Wrexham are reportedly weighing up an offer to bring Peart-Harris to the Racecourse Ground this summer.
It is uncertain whether a loan or permanent deal would be their preference at this stage, but their sights are set on the potential arrival of the winger.
The youngster now has just over 12 months remaining on his current Brentford contract, meaning the London outfit may be open to a sale, rather than a temporary exit, in order to cash in on him.
It’s unlikely that he will have a role to play in Thomas Frank’s first team squad next season, despite his performances for the Swans earning him praise.
The 22-year-old has not played since March, with a back issue preventing him from playing a role in Swansea’s late push for a play-off place.
Alan Sheehan’s side finished 11th in the table, seven points behind sixth place Bristol City.
Peart-Harris made the temporary switch to Swansea last summer, arriving from Brentford, and he played an important role in the team prior to his season-ending injury.
The winger proved himself as a versatile figure, playing out wide on both flanks, as well as in various midfield roles.
He made 29 appearances for the side, including 18 starts, and contributed three goals and four assists.
But it remains to be seen what the future holds for the youngster amid this interest from Wrexham.
Peart-Harris showed last year that he is very capable of competing at a Championship level, and he still has room to develop.
This is the kind of signing that can help boost Wrexham’s chances of surviving in the second division beyond one year.
A permanent deal would have to depend on the size of the potential fee, but given his contract situation he should be available at an affordable cost right now.
His versatility could also be a huge asset to have in the squad, as he showed he was capable of playing in multiple positions and remain a solid threat in the final third.
