Inter midfielder Piotr Zielinski scored a goal in Poland’s 3-3 draw against Croatia last night but was forced off the pitch in the second half due to a suspected muscle injury.

Inter midfielder Zielinski was subbed off at minute 74 last night during a Nations League game between his Poland side and Croatia.

The former Napoli star wore the captain’s armband for his national team and broke the deadlock after just five minutes, but he was forced off the pitch in the second half.

As reported by Sky Sport Italia, Zielinski felt discomfort in his right thigh and was, therefore, replaced by his compatriot Bartosz Kapustka.

Zielinski will be assessed by Inter doctors as soon as he returns to Milan.

“I hope it’s nothing serious and to be immediately available. I only felt a mild strain in the muscle, we’ll see what it is,” the midfielder told TVP Sport.

Poland coach Michal Probierz said: “It’s a minor injury. There was no reason to take a risk, so I replaced him.”

Defending Serie A champions Inter have a key game coming up as they’ll travel to the capital to visit Ivan Juric’s Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening.

Zielinski joined Inter on a free transfer from Napoli last summer. He has made six appearances across all competitions this season.
