3 Positives and 3 Negatives to take from Leicester 0 Newcastle 3

Monday night’s match ended Leicester 0 Newcastle 3.
Ahead of each game we ask one of our writers to come up with three positives and three negatives following the game.
An interesting night at the King Power stadium…
Plenty to talk about after this one.
On this occasion it is David Punton:
POSITIVES
Jacob’s cracker
The form of Jacob Murphy has defied belief this season.
It’s right out of the top drawer.
Two goals in this game added to Muphy’s goals total and already lengthy list of assists. He’s a player right at the peak of his game, and his attitude is bang on.
His first goal was excellent movement to the back post in order to pop up and stab the ball home.
He completed his brace thanks to some brilliant anticipation and speed of thought to rifle the rebound, that came back off the crossbar, into the Leicester net.
Murphy’s stats for the 24/25 season have been compared to that of Phil Foden – and it turns out that he’s more than holding his own.
Both men have seven Premier League goals, but Murphy is streets ahead on assists, with nine to his name, compared to Foden’s two.
Almost Fab
Fresh from signing a new contract, we were reminded of what a technically gifted footballer Fabian Schar really is.
He’s like a fine wine, which just keeps getting better and better.
Fab was a mere whisker away from goal of the season.
Fully 55 yards out from the Leicester goal, in the Newcastle half, he’s gone for the most audacious lob over the advanced goalkeeper.
Only the crossbar prevented what would have been an all time classic Newcastle goal.
The fact that he tried it, and is playing with such confidence, is such a massive positive for NUFC.
Still in the hunt
The recent results have kept us firmly in the hunt for the Champions League places.
The cup win has failed to create the distraction some feared would happen.
NEGATIVES (not many when we win yet again)
Bench press
Our bench still looks weak.
What we really need are a few new players so that the manager has more up his sleeve if he needs it.
Was it too easy?
There were spells in this game when we either had our foot off the gas or we got a bit sloppy.
Leicester were so bad it was barely much of a barometer – and this was a club that not so long ago generally used to get the better of United.
The Foxes raised it as much as they could in that second half, but being ultra critical, then I’d say we missed a gilt-edged opportunity to score five or six.
MNF – off
Anyone else fed up with Sky Sports and their Monday Night Football?
It’s a terrible time slot.
Can they not drop this outdated concept and just keep all of the games across the weekend?
