3 reasons why Southampton are justified to demand £100m for Tyler Dibling

Southampton are receiving stick for demanding £100m for Tyler Dibling. However, they are absolutely in their own right to do so.
Heading into the summer transfer window, one thing is inevitable: Southampton will lose a handful of key players. Unfortunately, this is the harsh reality of surrendering the relegation battle. Some players are just too good for the Championship.
Seemingly, one of those players is Tyler Dibling. The teenager has been one of the breakthrough players for Southampton this year. His explosive playing style combined with his ice-cold personality makes him a joy to watch. This season, he has blossomed into a great player, to this point where it's hard to believe his youth status.
This week, it was revealed that Southampton would demand at least £100m to sell Tyler Dibling this summer. For a side facing relegation, this might seem like a high valuation (and indeed, we've received our fair share of criticism). However, Southampton can demand such a fee, here's why.
It's an unspoken rule that clubs must pay a premium price tag for young English players. For reasons unbeknown to anyone, this is simply the way the Premier League market is setup.
Indeed, it is within Premier League sides' best interests to keep the best homegrown players within the English top flight. We have already seen the likes of Jude Bellingham, Jadon Sancho and Fikayo Tomori excel in European leagues, which gives an extra incentive to Premier League clubs.
So, should Southampton act like a martyr against this trent and offer out one of the brightest English talents for a cheap fee? Absolutely not, and anybody who expects them to do so is sorely mistaken.
As the days pass, more and more clubs appear to be joining the queue. They aren't just any old clubs, either; there are some real big-hitters interested in signing Tyler Dibling, including Bayern Munich and Manchester United.
As much as they'll attempt to hide it, everybody knows the biggest European clubs have a massive pool of money at their disposal. When the potential clientele is as big as Tyler Dibling's, then why wouldn't Southampton demand a pretty penny for his signature?
I know this post features a lot of "why not?" but when the criticism is silly, so is the response.
I know, some clubs aren't money-hungry and soulless. Hard to believe, right? I am aware of how ironic that sentence is on a fan site dedicated to a team owned by Sport Republic, but let's look past that for a bit, shall we?
If Southampton wants to keep Tyler Dibling, then they have every right to do so. If this is the case, then the £100m price tag is likely a "thanks, but no thanks" to his potential suitors.
Southampton has never had a backbone in the transfer window. Too often, they have let their best players leave for a cheap price. So, to avoid this, I like this approach from the Saints.
