While the 2025 MLS regular season has not provided many opportunities to celebrate, there are a pair of starswho turn a year older this month.
The roster for the Los Angeles Galaxy boasts a new addition and an international talent both share May birthdays. Marco Reus and JT Marcinkowski.
While both have had very different trajectories and accolades within their professional soccer careers, their connection is that they both are turning a year older this month.
LA Galaxy's fourth goalkeeper on the roster is still under 30. That's more than the starter, John McCarthy, can say.
The former San Jose Earthquake keeper joined the Los Angeles Galaxy in the winter of 2025. He signed on to back up McCarthy, Novak Micovic, and Brady Scott.
A native of Alamo, California is playing for his second MLS Western Conference team. Marcinkowski appeared in 95 games across all competitions for the Earthquakes before joining the LA Galaxy.
While Marcinkowski has not played in a game yet for the LA Galaxy, he signed a two-year contract on January 16, 2025. The Georgetown Hoya alum turned 28 on May 9th.
The German-born soccer player turns 36 on May 31st. Reus joined the LA Galaxy during the summer last year.
General Manager Will Kuntz brought the former Borussian Dortmund star stateside to help the LA Galaxy capture a record sixth MLS Cup. He scored and recorded an assist against Atlanta United in his debut.
On the season so far, Reus has one goal and three assists. In the 3-2 loss vs. the Philadelphia Union, the West Germany native made a pair of excellent passes that led to his teammates Mauricio Cuevas and Diego Fagundez scoring.
While his best playing days are perhaps behind him, Reus has made the LA Galaxy relevant in a down year for the MLS Western Conference juggernauts. As this could be the last season he plays for the Galaxy, he turns 36 at the end of this month.
