Aaron Ramsdale relegated for the third time in his career

Southampton have been relegated to the Championship, following a 3-1 defeat to Tottenham last Sunday.

That loss marked their 25th in the league, and for the first time in history, a team has been relegated from the Premier League with seven games still to go.

It’s another tough blow for Aaron Ramsdale's career. After being relegated with Bournemouth in 2020 and Sheffield United in 2021, the 26-year-old goalkeeper is now part of another team that couldn’t stay in the top division.

Ramsdale made the move to Southampton after leaving Arsenal, where he lost his starting place to David Raya.

After the match, the England international reflected on the situation, saying: "We knew this day was probably coming. We haven't been good enough all season," he said. "We were still fighting, trying to hang on, but it wasn't to be."
