Inter Milan midfielder Kristjan Asllani admits that the Nerazzurri were “missing a little something” against Sparta Prague.

The 22-year-old gave his thoughts to InterTV, via FCInterNews, after the 1-0 Champions League victory.

Inter did get the result they were after, in the end.

The Nerazzurri took three points against Sparta. In doing so, they planted one foot directly in the round of sixteen of the Champions League.

But Inter had to do it the hard way.

Right up until the final whistle yesterday, the Nerazzurri had to dig in. It was a nervy match in which Sparta had hope right up until the end.

Sparta did show themselves to be formidable opposition for Inter. Particularly playing at home in front of their own hands.

But the reality is that, on paper, Inter were certainly big favourites to win yesterday.

Therefore, there is perhaps some disappointment that they did not do so by a clearer and more emphatic margin.

After yesterday’s match, Inter midfielder Asllani commented that “We had to come here and get the job done.”

“We brought home the three points,” the Albanian continued. “Which is important because we know where we are in the table.”

“We were missing a little something, but we’re happy.”

Asllani then continued that “it was a match where we needed a lot of focus.”

“Particularly in the first half, we had a lot of the ball, and they closed down defensively well,” he added.

“In situations like that you have to be careful of counterattacks. And we did well in that respect.”

Meanwhile, of his own consistent playing time, Asllani said that “It’s good for me because I’ve been on the bench a lot.”

“So these minutes are very good for me.”

“I’m happy to wear this shirt because it’s a prestigious one,” Asllani said. “And then we’ll see what happens next.”

“But I’m just keeping focused from one match to the next,” the 22-year-old insisted.

“Now starting tomorrow we know we have to prepare for a tough match against Lecce,” Asllani said. “We can’t wait to play.”

“Then we’ll start thinking about Monaco,” Asllani added.

“We know that there’s a bit left for us to do to make it through comfortably. But we’ll start thinking about it.”
