Amad Diallo steals the show with late hat-trick as Man Utd beat Southampton 3-1 | OneFootball

Manchester United forward Amad Diallo bagged a hat-trick as the Reds came from behind to nick a win against Southampton in their Premier League match-up.

The Saints were determined to sneak a memorable result at Old Trafford and took the lead. United had a torrid day, with Kamaldeen Sulemana and Tyler Dibling causing havoc, especially for Leny Yoro.

However, United refused to stay down, and Diallo led their late resurgence. After fine centre-forward play, Joshua Zirkzee shifted the ball to the 22-year-old, who darted into the box to score on 82.

The Abidjan-born winger was not done as he steamed into the boxing in the 90th minute, played in by Christian Eriksen, and netted a wonderful brace to turn the tie around.

Southampton boss Ivan Juric was fuming. They had given a brilliant account of themselves but were undone by the Ivory Coast attacker.

Diallo continued to torture the Saints and pounced on a loose pass and touch to bag a memorable hat-trick.

Against Southampton, he registered his 12th Premier League goal involvement of the season (six goals and six assists), making him the first African player to record 10+ Premier League goal involvements in a single season for Man United. He also scored the fifth fastest hat-trick in Premier League history.

The former Atalanta star is the second youngest Man Utd player to score a Premier League hat-trick after Wayne Rooney.

Diallo’s performance is an indictment on former manager Erik ten Hag, who barely gave the Ivory Coast international chances to prove his mettle.

Today, Diallo cemented himself as a cornerstone for Man United’s future. He needs to be one of the focal points of this INEOS project.
