Amir Murillo (29) is set to extend his contract at Olympique de Marseille, according to a report from L’Équipe.

The Panamanian defender was injured in his side’s 2-0 victory over FC Nantes. His contract was set to expire at the end of the 2026 season.

Murillo came to OM from Belgian side RSC Anderlecht in late August 2023 for a €2.5m fee.

Under Roberto De Zerbi, he has featured prominently this season, making over 20 appearances in Ligue 1 and scoring one goal.

It could be a while before he plays in a Marseille shirt again, though, as his hamstring strain may keep him on the sidelines for several weeks.

A CONCACAF Gold Cup runner-up with Panama in 2023, Murillo was named the best XI in the 2018 CONCACAF Champions Cup.

He was selected to the Panamanian team that qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Murillo played right back in their first two games of that competition, but he missed their final group fixture through suspension.

His extension, until the summer of 2028, is expected to be official in the coming days.
