Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim wants three of his players to bag more goals, but pays little heed to Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund.
Since Marcus Rashford’s omission in mid-December which culminated in his transfer to Aston Villa, the Portuguese tactician left himself with only two options upfront. However, neither Hojlund nor Zirkzee has delivered the goods this season, at least not on a consistent basis.
The former Sporting CP manager has been alternating between the two strikers in recent weeks, before opting for an unconventional ploy in his last outing against Crystal Palace, fielding Kobbie Mainoo upfront. However, this tactical tweak proved futile as the Red Devils suffered a 0-2 defeat at home, while their last-ditch attempt to sign Mathys Tel was ill-fated, with Spurs finding success where INEOS had failed.
While it will interesting to see how the team will line up in Friday’s FA Cup contest against Leicester, Amorim revealed where he expects the goals to come from.

The 39-year-old bluntly told Mainoo, Amad Diallo and club captain Bruno Fernandes they must be more clinical in front of goals.
“We have to improve, we create chances but we don’t score. We have many shots inside the box. So these small things that we can improve,” said Amorim in his pre-match press conference.
“I think Amad can score more, Bruno can score more, and even Kobbie can score more playing in that position, a little bit further on the pitch. So we have to improve as a team. Let’s see at the end of the season.”
Hence, the manager failed to mention Zirkzee and Hojlund, which might suggest he has already given up on his two strikers, as neither is likely to play a key role next season.
Amorim will be expecting some serious attacking reinforcement in the summer, which could potentially come in the shape of his old Sporting pupil Viktor Gyokeres.
