FLW's Huddersfield fan pundit has given his verdict on links with the appointment of Stephen Robinson as manager

Huddersfield Town are eyeing the appointment of St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson.
According to Alan Nixon, the Terriers are considering the 50-year-old as their top target to replace Michael Duff.
The Yorkshire outfit failed to gain promotion from League One last season, with Duff being dismissed in March amid a poor run of form.
Meanwhile, Robinson has led St Mirren to a top half finish in the Premiership for a third year in a row, with the team currently sixth with two games remaining in the campaign.
When asked about the possibility of Robinson being appointed, FLW’s Huddersfield fan pundit Graeme Rayner claimed it would be an interesting move by the club.
He is encouraged by the St Mirren manager’s style of play, but warned that recruitment will be necessary in order for him to replicate that with the League One side.
“Stephen Robinson is an interesting possible choice,” Rayner told Football League World.
“He’s obviously done very well with a relatively small club in the Scottish top flight, European qualification, I think three consecutive seasons in the top half, I think they finished in the top six this year.
“He’s done very well there with limited resources.
“I believe he’s signed a new contract this season for another couple of years, so it might be difficult to prise him away and I also have heard he’s very interested in taking the Northern Ireland job in the future, and someone that the FA of Northern Ireland are very keen on.
“So, it’s an interesting choice.
“I think his style of play seems to be high tempo, high press, direct play, which would be something we would like to see because a lot of our build-up play has been quite pedestrian and slow, so I think the Town fans would like to see something a bit more dynamic.
“Although he does seem to play with wingers and we only have one on the books at the moment, and that’s Sorba Thomas, who very well may not be at the club next year.
“So definitely would need recruitment to aid his style of play.”
Rayner has warned Robinson that he would have to hit the ground running if appointed, as his CV might not win over the majority of supporters straight away, especially compared to someone like David Wagner potentially coming back instead.
“He’s not someone I think would immediately get Town fans excited, he’d have to win them over, and that would be a challenge,” he added.
“With a name that sort of comes out of left-field a bit like that, rather than an established name or the rumours that were around last week about David Wagner, I think the challenge is if things don’t start well how patient will Town fans be? I don’t know.
“So, I’d like to see us get an appointment as soon as we can so we can have an interesting, and hopefully exciting, transfer window, but he’s certainly someone who seems like he might be cut from the right cloth.
“And it would be an interesting one, not saying exciting but a good potential appointment I think.”
Huddersfield finished 10th in the League One table last season, missing out on the play-offs by 14 points.
Huddersfield suffered an underwhelming campaign, finishing well clear of the play-offs when they had hoped to be in automatic promotion contention.
So that shows a lot of work needs to be done to turn things around and get the team back to the Championship.
Investment in the team will be needed this summer, but so will a smart managerial appointment.
