Another clue has emerged that points to James McAtee leaving Manchester City this summer | OneFootball

It was revealed by Esteemed Kompany sources earlier this week that there were a host of clubs interested in signing James McAtee this summer. McAtee was left out of the Manchester City squad for their final three games of the 24/25 season. His non-selection for those games did appear to suggest that McAtee’s future lies away from the Etihad. Now two new reports suggest that James McAtee is almost certain to leave the Etihad this summer.

James McAtee won’t be in Manchester City’s squad for the FIFA Club World Cup.

Jack Gaughan has reported that James McAtee has been added to the England under-21’s training squad for the upcoming under-21 European Championships. McAtee will link up with Lee Carley’s squad this weekend at St. George’s Park. As per Jack Gaughan’s report, McAtee won’t be included in Manchester City’s squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

Simon Bajkowski has also reported for Manchester Evening News that Manchester City have allowed James McAtee to represent England at the upcoming under-21 European Championships. Furthermore, Bajkowski reports that Manchester City’s decision gives clubs interested in signing McAtee the opportunity to pounce. Bajkowski further reports that McAtee is keen on a move to the Bundesliga to further his career. Bajkowski adds that Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, RB Leipzig and Stuttgart have an interest in signing McAtee.

James McAtee’s time at Manchester City appears to be over.

Based on the information that has been revealed today it appears that James McAtee’s time at Manchester City is up. There is no other way to interpret today’s reports. But it isn’t a major surprise to see that McAtee is likely not a part of Manchester City’s future plans. He was only a bit part player this season for Manchester City. That’s the reality of the 24/25 season for McAtee.

Pep Guardiola has previously stated that he wants McAtee to stay at Mappearer City. But there now appears to be little chance of that happening. Pep Guardiola may like McAtee as a player but the young playmaker wasn’t given enough opportunities to play this season. So it would be the best for James McAtee’s career and development to play regular first-team, football and that opportunity will likely come away from Manchester City.

James McAtee appears certain to now leave Manchester City this summer. He won’t be the only departure from the club but his future has become clearer after today’s reports.
