The substitute collapsed to the pitch deep into injury time

England head coach Thomas Tuchel says Anthony Gordon suffered a hip injury which "does not look good" towards the end of England's 2-0 win over Albania at Wembley.

"He looks injured," Tuchel said afterwards. "First of all I thought it was his stomach but it's his hip and it does not look good."

Gordon and Jarrod Bowen replaced Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden for the final 20 minutes against the Albanians, with Tuchel saying neither of his starting wingers played as well as they usually do for their clubs.

Rashford has improved since joining Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United in January, earning him a recall to the England squad for the first time since before last summer's Euros, while Foden has struggled for rhythm and form at Manchester City this season.

Asked if Foden, who was quiet from the right of England's front three, lacks confidence in an England shirt Tuchel said: "We will encourage him to do what he does best, to go at defenders, to go into dribblings.

"Both our wingers who started were not as impactful as normally they can be in club football. I'm not so sure why we struggled to bring the ball quickly to them, I need ro review the match.

"We lacked a little bit runs off the ball. so it was a little bit too much passing, not enough dribbling, not enough carrying the ball and driving with the ball.

"Not aggressive enough towards goal. They trained very well, they were decisive in training. That's why I also think they deserved [to start], they were very good in the last weeks with their clubs. We will keep on encouraging them and make sure to create a structure where they can show their potential."

Goals from debutant Myles Lewis-Skelly and Harry Kane either side of the interval earned England a comfortable victory, and Tuchel was afterwards full of praise for the Arsenal teenager.

"He was amazing in camp, full of confidence and full of humour," Tuchel said of Lewis-Skelly.

"Such an open and mature character. You see everything on the pitch off the pitch [too]. He was straight away part of the group, very impressive, with a natural confidence. He is full of courage and full of quality. Even more so that he could run behind the line, decisive, to open this game for us."
