Hurtig arrived at Arsenal in August 2022 from Juventus, where she had won consecutive Serie A titles and built a reputation as a versatile and technically intelligent forward. She made her debut in a 4–0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Women’s Super League that September.
In total, she made 36 appearances and scored seven goals, playing a role in two League Cup wins.
Injuries, however, limited her impact. Most recently, she suffered a training-ground injury in the lead-up to Arsenal’s Champions League first leg against Real Madrid, which has kept her out of the final weeks of the season.

Before joining Arsenal, Hurtig had already enjoyed a decorated career. Born in Avesta, Sweden in 1995, she first made her mark with Umeå IK, showing early signs of the intelligent movement that would define her game.
In 2017, she joined Linköpings FC and helped them win the Damallsvenskan in her debut season.
Her form earned her a move to Juventus in 2020, where she won league titles, domestic cups and gained valuable experience in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
By the time she moved to England, she had already earned more than 50 caps for Sweden and played in major international tournaments including the 2019 World Cup and Tokyo 2021 Olympics.
Off the pitch, Hurtig has been equally impactful. She married her wife Lisa in 2019 and became a mother shortly after. Their second child was born at the end of 2024. Together, they have been vocal advocates for LGBTQ+ visibility in football, helping to shape a more inclusive culture in the game.
While her time at Arsenal did not allow her to play with the consistency she might have hoped for, Hurtig leaves with silverware and the admiration of those who saw the quality she brought when fit.
Beth Mead and Amanda Ilestedt are also believed to be out of contract this summer while the club have an option of an additional year for Victoria Pelova who will otherwise also be a free agent.
