As well as closing in on an Emirates Stadium record, Kai Havertz is also close to matching an all-time Arsenal goalscoring record.

In recent days it’s been widely reported that Kai Havertz has matched the record for goals in the most consecutive games at the Emirates Stadium, drawing level with Robin van Persie’s streak in 2011/12.

If the forward can score against Shakhtar Donetsk the week after next, he’d have the outright record. But he’d also match an all-time Arsenal record that goes beyond their time at the Emirates.

Arsenal report that only three players in the club’s entire history have scored in eight home matches in a row, regardless of the venue.

Those three are Thierry Henry in 2000, Doug Lishman in 1954, and Jimmy Brain in 1927. Havertz is now just one goal away from making that trio a quartet.

The Gunners have also confirmed that Havertz is closing in on Arsenal’s longest home scoring run in the Premier League, having scored in five straight league games at the Emirates.

Henry holds that record with goals in seven straight Premier League games, so even if Havertz fails to net against Shakhtar in the Champions League, he’ll have another chance at keeping a different record going when Arsenal play Liverpool that weekend.
