Arsenal defender Ben White is back training on the grass with the rest of the team and is inching closer to a return from his lengthy injury lay-off, according to Con Harrison.

The scout and Gunners insider, who has been featured on the BBC and The Overlap and is followed by the likes of Ben Jacobs, Jacob Steinberg and Darren Lewis on X (formerly Twitter), claimed this afternoon that the Englishman is nearing full fitness in what would be a huge and much-needed boost for Arsenal going forward.

White underwent knee surgery last November on an issue that had lingered for a while and seen him play through the pain barrier for many months.

He has missed the last 15 games across all competitions and could be back in action next month.

Arsenal have consistently suffered injury blows since the beginning of the campaign, but they have managed to keep themselves in the title race and could do with some encouraging fitness news during the second half of the season.

Bukayo Saka, Ethan Nwaneri and Gabriel Jesus are also out injured, and manager Mikel Arteta will be hoping the rest of his key players manage to stay without any fitness issues for the remainder of the campaign.

Having White return ahead of the crucial season run-in is something the Gunners could really do with as they go head-to-head with Liverpool in the Premier League title race, and fans cannot wait to have him back on the pitch.

Arsenal could also do with the injury comebacks of Saka, Nwaneri and Jesus sooner rather than later, but it could take a while before they are fit enough to return to action, and the club may need to recruit one or two forwards during the ongoing January transfer window to bolster their options in attack.
