Arsenal hold significant interest in signing Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich on a free transfer, reports in Germany have revealed.
Kimmich is approaching the end of his current contract and it appeared as though he was close to inking an extension to keep himself in Munich until 2028, only for the offer to be withdrawn earlier this week.
Bayern have grown frustrated by Kimmich's hesitance to extend and have now warned the 30-year-old that he must now make a decision and formally admit a desire to stay if he wants to continue negotiations.
Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City have been heavily linked with Kimmich but Sky Germany have now named Arsenal as major suitors for his signature.
Arsenal's interest is said to be "concrete" and talks have been held in recent days. The Gunners are braced for the departure of Jorginho in the summer and see Kimmich as a high-level replacement for the Italy international.
Kimmich has received two written offers from clubs overseas and has confirmed to Bayern that he is now considering the proposals arriving on his desk. Whether one of these comes from Arsenal is unclear but it is stressed that none of Barcelona, Inter, Madrid, Liverpool or Manchester City have made formal offers to Kimmich at this point.
An extension with Bayern remains a possibility but will only happen if Kimmich makes the first move. Even if he does, Kimmich is not expected to be able to negotiate a similar contract to the one which has been withdrawn.
