Arsenal are stepping up efforts to sign a striker on loan this month and have approached Juventus over a deal for Dusan Vlahovic.
Mikel Arteta has confirmed Arsenal are working on bringing in reinforcements before the deadline, after Gabriel Jesus was sidelined for the remainder of the campaign. The Brazilian sustained a serious knee injury against Manchester United last weekend. Jesus was stretchered off and is expected to undergo surgery.
“We have very clear ideas of the players that we want, yes,” Arteta said this week.
“It was before Gabi and it was with Gabi injured right now and we have to wait and see how things develop.”
According to multiple reports, Arsenal have renewed their interest in signing Vlahovic. The Gunners missed out on the Serbian striker to Juventus in January 2022 and have a long-standing interest in the player.
Initial discussions have centred around a loan deal for Vlahovic, who has scored 53 goals in 124 appearances for the Turin side. Juventus are understood to be open to his exit. The 24-year-old has failed to win the trust of new head coach Thiago Motta.
Juventus are also on the verge of agreeing a loan deal for Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani.
Vlahovic missed Juventus’ 1-1 draw against Atalanta on Tuesday but Motta refused to comment on speculation surrounding an exit.
“I do not talk about the transfer market,” Motta said.
“Dusan is recovering, he is not at 100 per cent and we cannot risk losing him for longer, so we’ll see what happens over the next three days.”
Vlahovic signed for Juventus from Fiorentina for an initial fee of €70m. He has scored 88 goals in 189 games in Serie A and has netted 13 goals in 32 caps for Serbia at international level.
