Folarin Balogun (23) has been forced to withdraw from the USMNT squad for the upcoming international break after suffering a shoulder dislocation against Stade Rennais on Saturday.

The former Arsenal forward netted in the 2-1 win over Rennes, as he continued his hot run of form, however, he was forced to withdraw midway through the second half after an awkward landing. Post-match, Adi Hütter described the injury sustained by Balogun as “very painful”.

A dislocation has now been confirmed by L’Équipe, although the severity of the injury is yet to be ascertained. If it is a simple dislocation, the striker could return not long after the international break, however, there is a risk that the dislocation is more serious, and that being the case, an operation may be required. That would perhaps even put his presence in the match against former club Arsenal on 11th December in doubt.

Balogun will now undergo further tests in order to gain clarity, however, the USMNT have already confirmed that the striker has been forced to withdraw from Mauricio Pochettino’s first squad.
