In just over 24 hours’ time, Athletic Club and Barcelona will face off in the first semi-final of the 2025 Spanish Super Cup. The hosts, last season’s Copa del Rey winners, start as underdogs, and their task appears to now be even harder.

Nico Williams is undoubtedly one of Athletic’s best players, and he would be seen as a focal point for Ernesto Valverde’s side in Saudi Arabia. However, there is a good chance that he cannot plat against Barcelona as it has been confirmed by the club that he has suffered a contusion to his ankle.

Williams did not train with his Athletic teammates on Tuesday, and according to Diario AS, he is doubtful to face Barcelona. However, it is also said that the 22-year-old winger is confident that he can make it in time for Los Leones.
