A former member of the attacking ranks at Barcelona has this week backed a potential swoop for Atlético Madrid standout Julián Alvarez.
Frontman Alvarez has of course taken his place front and centre in the Spanish media headlines across the week to date.
This comes after the Argentine was at the heart of a drama-filled Madrid Derby in the Champions League, during which his shootout penalty was disallowed following a VAR check.
Over recent months, however, Alvarez’s name has been much discussed for altogether more positive reasons.
Having finally rediscovered his brilliant best following a summer move to La Liga from Manchester City, the 25-year-old has established himself as one of the standout performers in all of Europe.
All told, despite a somewhat shaky opening to the season, Alvarez has now racked up 27 direct goal contributions in all competitions.
Such impressive exploits have given rise to inevitable chatter surrounding the World Cup winner’s long-term future, amid alleged interest in his services on the part of a whole host of top clubs across the continent.
And one individual of the opinion that Alvarez would be an excellent signing for Barcelona, is ex-Blaugrana standout Rivaldo.
Speaking to Betfair, in quotes relaid by Mundo Deportivo, this week, Brazilian icon Rivaldo explained:
“He’s a great player and I’d love to see him at Barcelona. He would definitely be a great addition.”
