Barcelona tipped to launch surprise move for Atlético Madrid star | OneFootball

A leading member of the attacking ranks at Atlético Madrid has emerged as an alleged transfer target on the part of La Liga rivals Barcelona.

That’s according to Marca, who point towards Julián Alvarez as the player in question.

Barcelona, it is widely understood, are on the lookout for reinforcements at centre-forward in the near future.

With Robert Lewandowski entering the twilight years of his legendary career, and Ferran Torres not yet trusted to act as a first-choice striker, a shortlist of options has in turn been drawn up.

And as per Marca, amongst those earmarked by Deco and his team as a potential target is the aforementioned Julián Alvarez.

World Cup winner Alvarez is of course in the midst of a stellar debut campaign on the books of Diego Simeone’s Atlético, which has seen the Argentine notch 27 goals and five assists across all competitions.

And as much, evidently, has not gone unnoticed over at the Camp Nou, albeit with it likely to require a monstrous offer to even bring Atléti to the negotiating table.
