The whole of European football has the name of one man on their lips; Viktor Gyökeres. And with 32 goals for club and country already this season it’s fair to see why.
While the sensational Swede is currently more heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, there have still been some rumours linking him with an outside shot of moving to Barcelona to replace the ageing Robert Lewandowski, or perhaps even be his strike partner.
The 26-year-old’s performance on Tuesday night for his country definitely turned heads, as four goals in his country’s 6-0 drubbing of Azerbaijan tell the tale of a striker who is on another plane to his counterparts in world football right now.
This coupled with 16 goals in 11 games at a domestic level certainly has the leadership at Barcelona interested in securing Gyökeres’ signature.
Regardless of where the striker ends up, or even if he chooses to stay at Sporting CP, many will be keeping an eye on the man from Sweden to see how long he can keep this incredible form going.
Fans of the Blaugrana will be hopeful that he may be plying his trade at the newly renovated Camp Nou in years to come…
