Federico Dimarco created Inter’s biggest chance by delivering a dangerous freekick in the 29th minute, but Francesco Acerbi couldn’t keep the shot on target.

The remainder of the first half saw Bayern and Inter Milan create half-chances, but both goalkeepers were in a comfortable position to gather the ball whenever shots were on target.

Second half saw best and worse of Bayern

The visitors started the second half on the front foot and put pressure on Inter. The early pressure rewarded Bayern with a goal in the 51st minute. Harry Kane collected the ball from Leon Goretzka on the right side of the box and hammered it past Yann Sommer from a tight angle. The finish had a perfect amount of power and placement to put Bayern ahead on the night and level on aggregate.

Olise created another brilliant chance a few minutes later as he carefully squared the ball in the box. Leroy Sane left the ball for charging Thomas Muller on the left flank, but the 35-year-old couldn’t keep the shot on target.

Things went downhill after Muller’s chance for Bayern. They once again conceded the goal at the wrong time as Lautaro Martinez scored from a set-piece in the 58th minute. Joshua Kimmich failed to clear the ball delivered from the corner by Dimarco. Martinez made the German midfielder pay by slotting the ball past Jonas Urbig. It was advantage Inter Milan once again in the tie.

Inter Milan managed the game really well in the next 20 minutes and didn’t give Bayern any chances to get back in the game. The visitors eventually found the breakthrough in the 76th minute as Eric Dier headed the goal past Yann Sommer. Serge Gnabry delivered a brilliant floated cross to find the English defender at the back post.

Bayern had a big chance of pushing the game in extra time when Thomas Muller headed the ball into the bottom corner, but Yann Sommer made a brilliant save to deny him. It was Die Roten’s last big chance of the game.
