With just over two months left in the season, Bayern Munich have already started planning for the summer transfer window. The Bavarian club is eyeing significant changes in the squad, but they must raise funds through departures to facilitate the incomings.
Sacha Boey could be one of the players in the first team who could leave Bavaria in the summer. According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern are ready to listen to offers for Boey in the summer transfer window.
Boey has struggled to nail down a place in the starting XI. However, it has not been entirely his fault since Boey has struggled with multiple serious injuries since arriving from Galatasaray in January 2024.
The French right-back has suffered four injuries in the last 12 months that have kept him on the sidelines for a long time. He has made only 13 appearances for Die Roten across all competitions. Boey has looked good whenever he has played, but the lack of availability is a big concern, which justifies Bayern’s decision to cash in during the summer transfer window.
Bayern have no plans to replace Boey if he ends up leaving Munich in the summer. The Bavarian club will go into the season with Josip Stanisic and Konrad Laimer as options in the right-back position.
Stanisic has endured a frustrating season after impressing for Bayer Leverkusen in 2023/24. The Croatian defender missed the first half of the season due to a serious injury. He is part of the club’s long-term plans, which suggests he will feature prominently next season and get valuable game time during the last two months of the current campaign.
Konrad Laimer has done a fine job for Die Roten in the right-back position this season. The Austrian midfielder has the tenacity to defend well in the wide areas. Kompany will have to rotate between Laimer and Stanisic if Boey leaves in the summer. Raphael Guerreiro is an emergency option in the position since the Portuguese has played as a right-back in the past.
Joshua Kimmich will be the fourth-choice option in this role if he ends up signing a new deal. Considering the plethora of options in the right-back position, it does make sense for Die Roten to cash in for Boey.
Bayern can use the funds raised by Boey’s departure to strengthen the center-back position. With Eric Dier expected to leave at the end of the season, Die Roten will have to sign a senior central defender.
