Beerschot defender set to move to Motor Lublin | OneFootball

According to reports in Polish media and HLN, Hervé Matthys is set to leave Beerschot during this January transfer window. The 28-year-old defender was not in the squad for the sides 1-1 draw with Antwerp at the weekend. As a result, the defender is looking set to join Motor Lublin in the Polish Ekstraklasa. The side are currently sitting seventh in the Polish top flight, which is yet to return from its winter break.

Matthys came through the Anderlecht youth academy but only made one senior appearance for the Mauves. He went on to play for Westerlo, FC Eindhoven, Excelsior and ADO Den Haag. In the summer of 2022 he moved from Den Haag to join Beerschot in the Belgian second division. During his first season back in Belgium he played 33 times and scored twice. Matthys made 29 appearances in the sides promotion push last year and has played 12 times in the top flight this season.
