Borussia Dortmund delivered yet another toothless performance away from home, and fell to a deserved 3-1 defeat to Mainz 05.

Just ten games into the 2024/25 Bundesliga season, and Borussia Dortmund are not only out of the Bundesliga title race but they find themselves looking woefully out of sorts, especially when playing away from home. The latest setback arrived in Mainz, with the Black and Yellows once again losing to a side in the bottom half of the table.

After a promising start, Borussia Dortmund fell by the wayside with Emre Can's sending off proving to be the decisive moment. Mainz capitalised on their advantage, and goals from Jae-sung Lee, Jonathan Burkardt, and Paul Nebel secured the three points.

Serhou Guirassy was on target for Borussia Dortmund. But the team was once again let down by some woeful decision making in defence and midfield.
