Borussia Dortmund winger primed for summer departure

Just like Jude Bellingham before him, Jamie Gittens is a young English talent who has yet to reach his best form. With drastic improvements from season to season, it’s no wonder the twenty-year-old has become a hot prospect in Europe. The fact that he’s English makes him especially appealing to English Premier League clubs.

According to renowned sports journalist Patrick Berger, Borussia Dortmund is ready to cash in on their prized asset this summer. This sale could muster a bountiful transfer fee to fund the obvious rebuild Borussia Dortmund needs. It’s unsurprising, given the circumstances.

The only players BVB has who would command a transfer fee of 50 million Euros are Gregor Kobel, Karim Adeyemi, Nico Schlotterbeck, and Jamie Gittens. With the club preferring Kobel between the sticks, Schlotterbeck transforming into a club leader, and Karim Adeyemi’s decision to stay at the club this winter, the most apparent sale-for-profit this summer is Jamie Gittens.

While there was a time when Dortmund demanded 100+ million euros, Goal.com reports the Black and Yellows have lowered their expectations, while Arsenal and Chelsea are said to have been given an 80-million-euro price tag in their pursuit.

Since joining Borussia Dortmund as a teenager, Jamie Gittens has scored sixteen goals across ninety-four appearances, with an additional eleven goals across nineteen games for the U19s. Just this season, Gitten has played in twenty-four matches, scoring seven and assisting three. He’s become known for his skilled footwork and wing play.

While Gittens may not demand the 120 million euros that Jude Bellingham was sold for to Real Madrid, Gittens remains a talented winger who will get better over the next several years, especially as he fills out and becomes a more physical player. He’ll be an investment and asset wherever he goes.
