Carlos Augusto will start for Inter Milan against Venezia on Sunday.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. They report that the Brazilian will enable either Alessandro Bastoni or Federico Dimarco to get a rest.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is certainly going to have squad rotation on his mind throughout the month of January.
This is a key month for the Nerazzurri to build the foundations for the rest of their season.
In Serie A, Inter have games in hand on their title rivals. They will therefore have to catch up to reassert themselves in their bid to retain their crown.
And in the Champions League, Inter face two massive matches to secure their place directly in the round of sixteen.
All of this means that Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi is not necessarily going to name a full-strength team against Venezia in Serie A this weekend.
And there are a couple of players that the coach is thinking about resting.
One would be defender Alessandro Bastoni. And another would be wingback Federico Dimarco.
Inzaghi has the luxury of a player capable of playing in either position, in the form of Carlos Augusto.
Therefore, the 26-year-old will certainly start on Sunday.
However, Inzaghi has yet to decide which position Augusto will play in.
