Carlos Augusto addressed the press after a ‘Man of the Match’ performance in Inter Milan’s 2-0 triumph at Atalanta.
Speaking to Sport Mediaset via FCInterNews, the 26-year-old hailed Inter’s collective effort in Bergamo.
Back to the scoreboard for the first time since December, Carlos Augusto set the tone for Inter’s win early in the second half.
Indeed, he headed home Hakan Calhanoglu’s cross from the resulting corner kick to put the Nerazzurri in front.
Then, Lautaro Martinez landed a fatal blow on Gian Piero Gasperini’s side in the 87th minute.
Meanwhile, referee Davide Massa had his hands busy late in the game, sending off Ederson and Alessandro Bastoni.
Furthermore, he showed a red card to Gasperini for harsh protests after Martinez’s goal.
“We knew they were a tough team and that playing here in Bergamo is really difficult,” Augusto admitted.
“But our group approached the game very well and controlled it from the start. That made the difference.

“Of course, once we scored, the opposition had to open up in search of an equalizer, but we always managed the match well.
“I always talk about ‘us’ because, in the end, I can’t score alone. No one can.
“It’s the result of the work we all do together.
“We’re a group of friends, a family, and that makes a difference in a packed schedule with games every two days.
“The celebration? It was a dedication to a friend of mine – it was his celebration.”
Moreover, Augusto praised Inter’s overall showing in Bergamo.
“Of course, it’s a big win, but I think this league will be like this until the very last match,” he continued.
“We have to stay focused in every game and perform well because we can’t afford to approach a match poorly.
“Our opponents are right there.
“Every game is different in terms of physical and mental condition.
“But today, it was crucial to perform well. We won, and that was the most important thing.
“We are Inter. Every competition we play, we are there to win. We know it’s difficult, but we’re here to give it our all.”
Asked whether Inter’s team spirit makes the difference, Augusto replied: “Absolutely, that’s what makes the difference.
“We are all here to help Inter win, and that’s what matters most.”
