Phil Foden has urged City to learn from their mistakes after letting a two-goal lead slip to draw 2-2 in the Premier League against Brentford.

Foden struck us ahead after 66 minutes, directing into the net from Kevin De Bruyne's precise cross, before the Englishman doubled the lead 12 minutes later, slamming a loose ball beyond Mark Flekken.

However, four minutes later, Yoane Wissa pulled one back for the hosts, before Christian Norgaard completed a remarkable comeback with a header two minutes into stoppage time, leaving both teams with a point each after a pulsating conclusion at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Pep Guardiola's men now have two wins and one draw in our last three league games and Foden believes the team can learn valuable lessons from the latter stages of the draw against the Bees.

"We just looked tired at the end, the last 20 minutes. We looked a bit leggy, they put the pressure on and put the ball into the box. I don’t think we coped with the physicality at the end," he said.

"Obviously it’s one of the toughest places to come as well. They give you a different challenge if you like. Man to man, long balls, physicality. It’s a challenging place to come. I was happy with the performance up until we went 1-0 up. It was a bit disappointing after that.

"We kind of let our form slip. Giving easy balls away. It’s something to learn from and move onto the next game. Possibly [tiredness played a part], or it’s just the challenge they give you.

"They’re man to man all over the pitch, you have to move a lot to get on the ball and off the ball you have to follow your man because they run behind you. They gave us a challenge today and we did the best we could.

"Our form has definitely picked up from previously. The performances are a lot better than they were. But there are still steps to go from where we want to be.

"As long as we keep making the small steps and keep improving, that’s what we’re aiming to do."

The 24-year-old now has three goals in his last two Premier League games, with two of them assisted by De Bruyne, who was again at his creative best.

Foden was delighted to link up with the Belgian once again and believes their combination on the pitch is a result of many years of hard work together.

"We’ve built that combination now for years," he declared. "I’ve been playing and training with him and I know the ability he has to put the balls into the box. It’s about making the movement and he will put it in the perfect spot for me.

"Mine and Kev’s connection is good on the pitch and he gave me the perfect ball, I just had to help it on. I was delighted to see it hit the back of the net.

"We’re used to it now [playing every three days]. For many years we played in the majority of the competitions every three days. It’s something the squad are used to. There’s no excuses."
