After enjoying a rest week last weekend, Juventus Women are back in action this Sunday, 30 March, with the Serie A Poule Scudetto taking them to Milan to face Inter. Kick-off in Lombardy is locked in for 16:00 CEST.
Looking ahead to the game, coach Massimiliano Canzi sat down to share his thoughts.
“With each matchday that passes and with the distance between us and others in the table staying the same, our belief strengthens that we’re on the right path to achieve one of our goals. I think the format of the league has seen all of the teams raise their level, and the evenly-balanced games in the Poules has shown just that.
“Just as we didn’t let our heads drop too much after disappointing results, we’re not celebrating anything too early by seeing other teams slip up. We’re keeping our balance despite the fact that coming towards the end of the season the general perception is a little distorted from reality.”
“The rest allowed us to recover some energy and, more importantly, get some players back. It might seem strange but the two are related. The more players you have to choose from, the easier it is to share the workload around, and the fewer you have the more complicated it is for those who play every game because they can’t rest.”
“We’re all delighted to see Paulina [Krumbiegel] back in the Germany side after a long time away. It shows that coming to play at Juventus is a way of getting closer to that top level. After a great season playing at a great club like ours, it’s gratifying to know that Paulina has had a national team call-up.
“We’re proud of Paulina and of Abi [Brighton]. Abi’s case is different because in the United States there is a huge base of high-level women athletes, so it wasn’t easy for her to stand out and this call-up to the Under-23s is a great message.”
“As I’ve already told Barbara [Bonansea], I’m delighted with the renewal. She’s earned it with her performances. Her season has been there for anybody to see, I think she’s back to her best. I’m very happy that it’s happened when I’m here.
“As I said after the renewal of Cristiana [Girelli] and Martina [Rosucci], Barbara has earned this on the pitch. She falls into that category of validation for not only what she has done, but what she can continue to do for us.”
