Caoimhin Kelleher is on the verge of leaving Liverpool for Brentford, with the transfer potentially reaching £18m once add-ons are factored in.
The Republic of Ireland keeper has mostly served as understudy to Alisson Becker, making 20 appearances in all competitions this season, most of them coming while the Brazilian was sidelined through injury.
Despite proving himself when called upon, Kelleher, who has just one year left on his Liverpool contract, has been pushing for a move to get more regular game time.
Brentford have reportedly agreed an initial fee of £12.5 million, with performance-related bonuses possibly taking the deal up to £18 million.
With the 26-year-old heading for a new challenge in west London, Liverpool are expected to bring in Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili as his replacement. The Georgian international is set to link up with new boss Arne Slot ahead of the new season, following an agreement made last year.
Kelleher’s switch to Brentford comes as their current keeper, Mark Flekken, is believed to be closing in on a move to Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth roughly £9 million.
