Milan owner Gerry Cardinale congratulated the team after a 3-2 win over city rivals Inter in the Supercoppa Final and urged the players to ‘return to Italy with this boost.’

Milan completed a two-goal comeback on Monday night in Riyadh, beating the Nerazzurri for the second time this season and winning the 50th trophy in their history, the first under the RedBird management.

“Congratulations on this extraordinary result. To win this trophy in a derby is special and something you must be profoundly proud of,” Cardinale told the team, as Gazzetta and other media quoted.

“It’s been a challenging season so far, but you must enjoy this moment and return to Italy with this boost to claim the place Milan belongs to in Serie A. I hug you, and I am with you at every moment.”

Cardinale was not in Riyadh last night but watched the match from the USA, so RedBird advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic spoke to the team on behalf of the club owner.

The Rossoneri hired Sergio Conceiçao to replace Paulo Fonseca at the end of 2024, and the ex-Inter, Parma, and Lazio winger debuted on the Rossoneri bench with victories against Juventus and Inter in the Supercoppa.

Milan are fighting for a Champions League spot in Serie A and will face Cagliari at home in the next league game on January 11.
