Marc Casado made a strong return to the starting line-up for Barcelona against Las Palmas, stepping in for Frenkie de Jong.
His solid performance reflected the quality available to the manager, highlighting how Barcelona can maintain high standards regardless of rotations.
Barcelona’s squad depth was evident as both the starting players and substitutes maintained a strong level of focus.
“This is a squad with a lot of quality and world-class players. We all give a good performance and we are eager,” he began saying.
Following the 2-0 victory, Casado acknowledged the significance of the result. Playing on a challenging pitch, Barcelona took their chances well, securing a win that boosted their confidence and kept them at the top of the table.
“It’s an important victory on a difficult pitch, we took advantage of the opportunities and the win gives us confidence and allows us to stay in first place.”
He admitted that the first half was not as composed as they would have liked, with some rushed decisions affecting their play.
“We were hasty in the first half, although they got their act together with three corners that I’m told came from plays in which they were offside,” he added.

On the defensive side, Eric Garcia found himself at the centre of a penalty decision. He was surprised by the situation but maintained that he was certain the initial play was offside before the ball struck his hand.
“I was very clear that it was offside and then the ball hit him in the hand. Then it hit me in the hand when I was going to put it on the ground, that’s what the referee told them.
“After this week it is normal that everything is reviewed a little,” he said.
When asked about the impact of external pressure, particularly from Real Madrid, Garcia questioned why the referee was asked to review the incident when the offside should have already ended the play.
“What we don’t understand is why they made him review the play when they already knew it was offside, the play would have ended there.”
From a sporting perspective, Barcelona successfully reclaimed their position at the top of the table after overcoming a temporary setback. The team expected a tough match, but securing all three points was crucial.
“We were imprecise in the first half with our passes, but we adjusted a few things at half-time. What did Flick tell us? Things about positioning and that we should make fewer passes,” he noted.
Looking ahead, every player in the squad understands the importance of maintaining a high level of competition. The fight for starting positions remains intense, pushing everyone to give their best whenever called upon.
