Simone Inzaghi refused to answer questions about his future on the eve of leading Inter Milan into their second Champions League final in three years under him.

The 49-year-old’s future as head coach has been in doubt in recent weeks after he declined to deny reports linking him with the vacant managerial post of Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.

His Inter contract has another year to run, but talks with the club's CEO Giuseppe Marotta are scheduled for next week to determine whether he will remain in the role for the full period.

Inzaghi led Inter into the 2023 Champions League final, where they lost to Manchester City, but has a second chance to guide the club to their fourth European Cup success on Saturday when they take on Paris Saint-Germain in the final in Munich.

Quizzed on the latest regarding his future, Inzaghi replied: “My future is that tomorrow there is a final. That is all I want to talk about.

“A final is something different. All the teams we faced were great opponents. It’s true that we’ve won a lot.

“We’re proud of representing Inter. I dreamed of playing in the Champions League final as a child. I never did. As a player, I also got only to the quarter-finals. As a coach, it will be my second final with this team.”

Inzaghi has guided Inter to one Serie A title, two Coppa Italias, and three Supercoppa Italiana triumphs during his four years in charge.

They were pipped at the post in Serie A on the final day this season, as Napoli beat Cagliari to clinch the title.

“We have put the league behind us,” he insisted. “I see determination and focus from the players, rather than obsessing over [losing the league title]. Tomorrow we will take our chances.

“All my players are available,” Inzaghi said. “I do have some doubts as always. [Benjamin Pavard] has trained. He’s ok. He had some injuries, but I guess if all pans out right tomorrow, he will be in the starting XI.”
