Premier League heavyweights Chelsea have reportedly set their sights on rising Inter star Yann Bisseck ahead of the summer transfer window. According to foreign reports, the German defender features the Blues’ wishlist close to the top after an impressive breakout season at the San Siro.
Yann Bisseck joined Inter from Danish outfit Aarhus in the summer of 2023 for a reported fee of €7 million. He was initially a bit-part player in Simone Inzaghi’s system. However, after adapting to Serie A and helping the Nerazzurri win a landmark 20th Scudetto last term, his influence in the dressing room has skyrocketed.
Recurring fitness problems to Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij have helped Bisseck get a more prominent role at Inter this season. The 24-year-old has seized every opportunity, establishing himself as one of the division’s most exciting prospects. Also, he has fared well on the right wing in Denzel Dumfries’ absence, showcasing an admirable versatility.
Bisseck’s rise to stardom at Inter has not gone unnoticed. Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann handed the star defender his maiden senior call-up in March. That was a fitting recognition for his outstanding form at Giuseppe Meazza. Yet, Bisseck may not stay in Italy for long, with Chelsea contemplating a summer bid for him.
However, it’s worth noting that Bisseck isn’t Chelsea’s first option. Enzo Maresca’s charges have earmarked Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi as a top defensive target. Bisseck would only be a backup alternative, with Inter poised to keep hold of him.
