Chelsea face crucial final weeks of season domestically and in Europe

It has been a mixed week on the injury front for Chelsea.

However, there have been fresh issues picked up by Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana, continuing the struggles the pair have had to stay fit during their Chelsea careers.

With the Blues now turning their attention to a Conference League quarter-final against Legia Warsaw, here’s the latest Chelsea injury news...

Romeo Lavia is facing another spell on the sidelines after his latest injury setback.

The midfielder had played a key role for Maresca earlier this season, but he has made only three appearances in 2025 amid a string of hamstring issues.

Lavia picked up a fresh, unspecified injury in training ahead of Chelsea’s recent win over Tottenham, continuing his frustrating time of it in a Chelsea shirt.

“We don't know yet,” Maresca said when asked for a timeframe for Lavia’s return.

“Romeo looks a little bit better injury compared to Wes [Fofana], in terms of probably Romeo can be back earlier than Wes.”

Wesley Fofana

The season has come to a premature end for Wesley Fofana.

His Chelsea career has been blighted by serious injuries and he has been forced to undergo surgery again, after it was last week announced that he had suffered a hamstring injury.

Confirming that successful surgery had taken place, the club said: “Wesley was assessed by specialists this week after the 24-year-old suffered an injury of the muscle. Following that assessment, it was concluded that an operation would be required.

“The 24-year-old will now begin his recovery and undergo rehabilitation with the club's medical staff at Cobham over the coming weeks.”

Wesley Fofana’s season has been ended by a hamstring injury

Marc Guiu

Marc Guiu has not featured since February, when he came off the bench against West Ham in the Premier League.

Maresca confirmed at the time that Guiu would be out for “a little while” with the injury and no further update has been provided recently, suggesting a return is not imminent.

Potential return date: May 2025

Omari Kellyman

Summer signing Omari Kellyman must wait to make his first senior appearance for Chelsea.

The teenager suffered a serious hamstring injury in September and announced last month that there had been a setback in his recovery, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

"Beyond gutted to say that this season has come to an early end for me due to a reinjury of my hamstring, despite only just returning after having hamstring issues for a massive part of this season," Kellyman said.

"24-25 has been a tough season for me mentally and physically due to injury but it's important now that I take time to get this right and come out the other side stronger and better ready for what next season brings."
