Champions Chelsea became the first team in Women’s Super League history to complete a full 22-match season without a loss, securing the milestone with a win over Liverpool.

England star Aggie Beever-Jones netted a dramatic winner in stoppage time, slotting the ball past goalkeeper Rachael Laws to crown an incredible campaign.

Under new boss Sonia Bompastor, the Blues recorded 19 victories and three draws in the French coach’s first season in charge in England.

They clinched the WSL crown on 30 April with two fixtures remaining and remain in contention for a Treble, with the FA Cup final still to come on 18 May, and the League Cup already on their mantelpiece.

The manner of the win only amplified the celebrations as Chelsea lifted the league trophy in front of a jubilant home crowd at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool largely held firm, restricting Chelsea to few clear opportunities during a sweltering afternoon in the capital.

Bompastor shuffled her lineup throughout the contest in search of a breakthrough, and after sustained late pressure, her side finally found a way through.

One of the best earlier opportunities came when Sandy Baltimore went close just after the break, dragging her shot narrowly wide. Liverpool, meanwhile, posed an occasional threat but rarely forced Chelsea keeper Hannah Hampton into serious action.

It nearly marked a strong finish to what has been a turbulent season for Liverpool, who again proved they can challenge top sides despite narrowly losing to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals as well as in this fixture.

As for Chelsea, it’s been a sensational domestic run - setting a new club record of 60 points in the WSL and securing a sixth straight league title.
