CM: The head coach candidates that the new Milan sporting director will evaluate | OneFootball

One of the big decisions that AC Milan must make in the coming weeks concerns the new sporting director, and he will in turn make a call on the new head coach.

Calciomercato.com reports that a chess game is underway with the leadership of the club at stake between the CEO Giorgio Furlani and the RedBird Capital Senior Advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic. It is the former who gained full control after a meeting with Gerry Cardinale.

At the centre of the dispute is a strategic choice that is fundamental for the present and for the future: that of the new sporting director. The Swede wanted to choose this figure himself and with a certain autonomy, but the latest developments have put Giorgio Furlani at the center of the village.

Last Monday Furlani had a long meeting (about 5/6 hours) with Fabio Paratici: there is a good harmony between the parties and now they await the next steps that will lead, barring any upsets, to the signature of the former Juventus sporting director.

During the meeting, the project was also discussed with a 360-degree sharing of ideas, analysis and vision for the future. Sergio Conceicao feels he still has a chance of confirmation, but unless there are surprises he will be replaced in the summer.

Who will replace him? We start from a necessary premise: Cesc Fabregas is a coach on the rise thanks to his football ideas and a personality already known in the world of football . The connection to Milan conceptually has many reasons to exist, and yet at the moment the idea is not gaining ground.

The Catalan coach is tied to Como and its multi-year project and wants to mature and grow in step with the club by the laker. Without forgetting that the former Barcelona player is also a shareholder of the club. In his mind, another season there seems wise.

With the arrival of Paratici, the chances of an attempt for Antonio Conte – tied to Napoli by a contract until 2027 – are certainly higher. For  Furlani, Massimiliano Allegri remains the best candidate for the club’s current needs.

And De Zerbi? At the moment he is an outsider. A quality one, but still an outsider. First, however, the appointment of the new sporting director expected in the second half of April.
