One of the players that AC Milan had in mind with their Futuro project was and is Francesco Camarda, with the hope being that regular Serie C football would get him ready for the first team quickly.

As Calciomercato.com report, stories went viral regarding the fact Camarda has scored over 500 goals with the youth sector, which is when fans began really taking note. Then, he became the youngest debutant ever in Serie A at just 15, and the youngest scorer in the history of the UEFA Youth League.

Camarda is a world class talent by definition and must learn to manage the good and the bad that comes with it, both in attention and the expectations. He is working hard on this aspect with great willingness, but at certain heights the risk is of suffering from vertigo.

Much has been written and said about the 16-year-old perhaps too much, but for Milan nothing has changed despite a complicated start to the season with the Futuro. Instead, there is maximum confidence in Camarda’s qualities and in the path that have outlined for his growth.

The former head of the Milan youth sector, Filippo Galli, provided food for thought regarding Camarda on Carlo Pellegatti’s YouTube channel.

“It’s a big problem about the fluidity between the various categories. The problem is that when you don’t decide to focus on a player, it happens that you move a player from the U23 to the first team to cover a gap, but he doesn’t play there,” he said.

“So he doesn’t play in the first team even with the U23, and therefore he misses the opportunity to have the most important training moment, the match. So the boy missed an opportunity in his level, which is not his level, and he missed it in the first team.

“And consequently someone will have missed it [the chance] with the Primavera because he was aggregated with the U23s instead. Here too it’s not easy, it’s clear that we are here to talk about it, but we should sit down and focus on this type of problem too.”

The observation certainly raises an interesting question but some points must also be considered: Milan Futuro is a newborn project and like any new project it also presents risks and difficulties at the beginning, Camarda cannot be exempt from this.

Another aspect is that of continuity of use, given Camarda was left out in three games due to physical problems and a call-up to the senior team. Translated: when he is well, he always plays. Regarding the idea he jumped too early from the Primavera, we need 6/12 months for a more complete picture.

Camarda will be looking for his first goal from open play in the league starting from the game on Sunday against bottom club Legnago Salus. In the meantime, the hypotheses which have emerged in recent days about a loan to Serie B or even a move to Roma are completely unfounded.
