Crystal Palace are reportedly the latest team interested in signing veteran Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy on a free transfer this summer.

Vardy's 13-year association with the Foxes is set to come to an end when his contract at the King Power Stadium expires at the end of June, and he signed off in style this past weekend with a goal against Ipswich Town, taking his Premier League tally to nine for the season.

And with the belief that he can still make an impact in England's top flight at the age of 38, Vardy is setting his sights on another Premier League club - and that could be Palace.

As first reported by The Independent's Miguel Delaney, newly-crowned FA Cup champions Crystal Palace are considering a move for former England international Vardy on a freebie this summer.

Eagles boss Oliver Glasner will be heading into the UEFA Europa League with his squad for the 2025-26 season, and with that comes the need to have much more depth than he's had over the course of the current campaign.

Currently, Jean-Philippe Mateta is Palace's leading striker, with ex-Arsenal man Eddie Nketiah battling with him for game-time, but they could be joined by Vardy, who will have a whole host of clubs chasing his services in the weeks and months to follow.

TEAMtalk recently reported that newly-promoted duo Leeds United and Burnley were both interested in Vardy's services, and whilst a move to League One runners-up Wrexham has been mooted for a long time, that has seemingly been shut down, with the striker's desire to still play in the Premier League meaning he is ruling out a Championship switch.

Crystal Palace move may actually make lots of sense for Jamie Vardy

At the age of 38, not many clubs - if any - in the Premier League are going to offer Vardy the chance to lead the line on a weekly basis, and that includes Palace.

What they can give him though is the chance to be a squad player who can come off the bench and provide fresh legs, even if they are a pair of highly-worn ones at the age of 38, and that will be even more useful in the season to come given the fact that Palace will need to juggle domestic, cup and European football all in one.

With Leicester this season, Vardy has played in a team that hasn't had much to cheer about and more often than not have not dominated the ball, but with Palace having the likes of Adam Wharton, Ebere Eze and others, a lot more chances should be created, and that is what Vardy thrives off when on the pitch.
