So far in the 2024/25 season Ben Chilwell has played just one game for Chelsea, and it’s because of that he’s likely to join Crystal Palace this month.
Transfermarkt note that the extent of Chilwell’s representation for the Blues in the current campaign has been limited to just 45 minutes in the Carabao Cup.
That precise situation led Enzo Maresca to admitting to feeling “shame” about a player he described as “top” in a recent pre-match interview detailed by TNT Sports.
The Telegraph (subscription required) note that the player will have a medical on Monday ahead of the switch.

Chilwell isn’t likely to be the only defensive departure from Stamford Bridge either, with Tottenham chasing Axel Disasi.
It would appear that Disasi has turned the Lilywhites down, though Aston Villa have also shown interest and, ahead of the transfer deadline, it could be a deal they could push through after landing Marcus Rashford.
Oliver Glasner isn’t hanging around either, as Crystal Palace want Strahinja Pavlovic to shore up their defence too.
It’s the signing of England international, Chilwell, that will almost certainly delight Eagles fans, however.
The 28-year-old will clearly have a point to prove, and will arguably be champing at the bit to get started.
Palace’s next few fixtures are against Everton, Fulham, Aston Villa and Ipswich Town, and though not easy by any means, they are winnable games if the South Londoners start off with the right mindset.
With Chilwell in situ, there’s little chance of him allowing standards of those around him to drop, and levels of performance can increase as a result.
An FA Cup fourth round tie against Doncaster is the Eagles next game, and that should allow the left-back to ease himself into his new role.
